PROTECT PATIENTS and SAY NO to Cost Increases for Prescription Drugs
Tell Lawmakers: Don’t Increase My Prescription Drug Costs
Right now, lawmakers are considering legislation that would raise the cost of prescription drugs for Florida patients and boost big drug companies’ profits. These bills would undermine how employers and even the state partner with pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) to stop prescription drug cost increases.
Prescription drug costs are rising quickly for patients as big drug companies seek greater profits. PBMs take on big drug companies to secure lower-cost prescriptions for Florida patients. This helps prevent cost increases for job-creators, hardworking families, and taxpayers. In fact, studies have shown that eliminating or restricting PBMs would increase costs as much as $962 per person every year.
We all agree that we must lower prescription drug costs, but current bills in Tallahassee would actually make it easier for big drug companies to raise prices. Florida lawmakers have tried this before, and they are trying again this year.
Legislation like the recently introduced SB 742 would:
Raise health care costs for Florida patients and their families by increasing the cost of every prescription filled in the state and wrapping employers in government red-tape.
Limit access to affordable prescription drugs by imposing unnecessary restrictions on convenient home delivery of prescriptions.
Increase prescription drug fraud and waste by limiting PBM investigations that catch costly prescription drug fraud and protect patients from unsafe medications.
Endanger Floridians by lowering safety standards for specialty medications used to treat our most vulnerable patients.
TAKE ACTION TODAY!
Tell your lawmakers to vote NO on allowing big drug companies to increase prescription costs with bills like SB 742.
